Chacaltaya is a mountain range in Bolivia with an elevation of 17,785 ft. Over 80 percent of its glacier – which was as old as 18,000 years – melted between 1987 and 2007 and in early 2009 it finally disappeared. It was one of the highest glaciers in South America. Photo by Nick Ballon
